Vexil is a free flag maker that runs in your browser. A flag here is a stack of layers: a background first, then stripes, crosses, stars and other shapes on top. Every layer keeps its own color and settings, so any part can be changed later without redrawing the rest. There is no account to create and nothing is uploaded.
Background, stripe, stripes, Nordic cross, cross, saltire, pall, chevron, border, canton, triangle, lozenge, disc, ring, star, star ring, star field, sun, crescent, laurel and checker. Several of them take an outline in a second color. Flag makers call that thin edge fimbriation: it keeps two dark colors apart, like the white around the blue cross of Norway.
The Load button holds 34 real flags rebuilt from these shapes, from the tricolors of France and Romania to the Nordic crosses and the Stars and Stripes. Each one also has a page of its own with its colors and layers: see the country flags to edit.
